What would you call a bestiary's equivelent for plants?
It's working on something with a fantasy/sci-fi twinge, and it's late, and I'm coming up blank.
If a bestiary, or bestiarum vocabulum, is for beasts and animals, what do you call the equivelent book for plants?
Looking for a common direct equivalent: many bestiaries are now often extended to include flora as well as the 'beasts' that you would espect, without changing title. An example of this is'A Tolkien Bestiary', or you could refer to this link: http://www.pantheon.org/areas/bestiary/articles.html
However, in medieval times, there were 'herbals': A Herbal was a book in which the scientific discoveries and information pertaining to plants could be found. While it has a more medical aspect, this is probably the closest term to what you are looking for.
If you don't like that you could always use the more universal 'compendium'.
